What is in the pack

Written to be used exactly as they are.

What to say

  • The ask at the doorOne sentence a technician says at the end of a job, plus what to say when the customer asks how, and what to say when they hesitate.
  • Three text messagesAfter a repair, after an install, after a maintenance visit. Each under 160 characters so it lands as one message.
  • Two emailsWith subject lines, for customers who prefer email.

What to hand over

  • A printable truck cardBusiness card size with a cut line, so a technician can hand it over while he explains what he did.
  • Four replies you can adaptA good review, a fair criticism, an unfair one, and one that names your technician.
  • The direct review linkWhere to find it, how to test it, and the three places it belongs.

What not to do

  • The rules, on one pageEight things you may not do, with the reason for each and what happens if Google decides you did.

Here is one of them, so you know what you are getting

This is the doorstep ask, the one that matters most. It happens while the technician is still in the house, right after he has explained what he did.

"If you have a minute, would you leave us a review? It genuinely helps people find us. I'll text you the link before I pull off."

Then stop talking. No second sentence, no mention of stars, and no second ask if the answer is no.

The rest of the pack works the same way.

The part most guides skip

Two of the most common tactics in home services are now prohibited.

Offering anything in exchange for a review, and asking only the customers you expect to be happy. Google prohibits both, and since October 2024 the FTC rule covers incentives as well, with civil penalties per violation.

The pack has all eight rules on one page, with the reason for each and what happens if Google decides you broke one. We also published them in full outside the form, because you should not need to give us an email address to find out you are breaking a rule. Read all eight rules here

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No credit card, no trial, no catch. It costs an email address and you can unsubscribe the same day.

Will these work if my technicians hate asking?

That is who they were written for. The reason most technicians skip the ask is that nobody gave them the words, so every ask gets improvised in front of a customer. One sentence on a card fixes most of it.

What happens after I sign up?

You get the download link immediately, plus a copy by email so you can find it later. After that, one note a month for HVAC owners. Unsubscribe any time.

Can I edit them?

Please do. They are written to be pasted into your field software and your technicians' phones. The only lines worth keeping word for word are the ones on the rules page.
